About ACI

Our Mission: Bridging Cultural Gaps

The Afrimerican Culture Initiative Inc. (ACI), a beacon in the heart of Boston, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building cultural bridges within the African diaspora. ACI was founded in 2015. Our mission is simple yet profound: to unite through Education, Technology, and Travel. With a distinctive approach that integrates Cultural Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (CDEI) within the framework of Restorative Project Management (RPM), we are committed to constructing and maintaining projects that foster community, repair harm, and promote inclusivity.

Our Roots and Vision

Founded in December 2015 by Marlon Solomon, a civil engineer with a deep commitment to civil rights, ACI was born from a vision to reconcile cultural divides—a vision influenced by Marlon’s unique African American and African heritage. Our journey began with the ambition to repair, rebuild, and rejuvenate, ensuring that every project we undertake serves the community’s needs while honoring our diverse backgrounds.

The Afrimerican Academy: Our Pride

The Afrimerican Academy, the educational arm of ACI, exemplifies our dedication to the next generation. Catering to Boston's youth between the ages of 14-24, via Afrimerican Academy Summer Projects (youth summer programming) we offer project-based educational initiatives that prepare them for executive roles and instill a professional culture. Our partnerships with institutions like Boston Public Schools enable us to deliver a curriculum enriched with CDEI and RPM principles.

Engagement and Impact

Our engagement isn’t limited to education. Through Afrimerican TV, we empower our students to apply their learning to real-world scenarios, leading social media projects that resonate with their lived experiences. We also extend our expertise to businesses and the City of Boston through workshops, consulting, and public speaking engagements, emphasizing our role as a minority-led nonprofit organization.

A Legacy of Community Engagement

ACI's involvement with the Successlink program and our track record of hiring and training local youth underscore our commitment to community development. We have created a space where young minds can flourish, learn the ropes of CDEI & RPM, and transition seamlessly into our school year programs. This holistic approach ensures that our students are not just educated but are also well-prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

Our Ongoing Endeavor

As we continue to expand, especially within our restorative project based initiatives, educational programming & cultural hub development, we remain steadfast in our promise to enrich the lives of the multicultural communities in Boston. We build community, repair harm & promote inclusivity. The Afrimerican Academy and Afrimerican TV are just two examples of our after-school and summer educational programs designed to inspire and encourage our youths #culture2thrive.
